January 12,2016

From January 12, 2106, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular are expanding the anime genre entertainment content offered on Video Pass, the video streaming service for au smartphones.

Currently, the Video Pass flat-rate unlimited content includes a large number of genres, including movies (Western and Japanese), drama and anime. Of these, anime, with its line-up of widely-known works including the Naruto, Major and Gundam series, is always the top genre in terms of viewership, watched by approximately 40% of subscribers [1].

Now, in addition to these prominent works and in response to requests from subscribers to be able to see TV anime programs aired late at night that they missed on TV, the scope of our TV broadcast-linked titles will be more than doubled, and the latest TV anime programs, such as "Osomatsu-san", "Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle" and "Luck & Logic" will be available for post-broadcast streaming.

In addition, anime based on popular comic books from a few years ago, such as "Kingdom" and "Chihayafuru", will also be available for streaming.

Further, from January 14, 2016, in our student discount campaign aimed at customers aged 25 or under, in addition to receiving 5GB a month of data capacity free of charge to enable them to enjoy their smartphone without having to worry about data volume, customers applying during the campaign period for a student discount and registering (or re-registering) for Video Pass will be given a discount equal to their monthly data charge for up to 6 months (up to charges for July 2016), allowing them to enjoy Video Pass to their hearts' content. [2]

With the expansion of the anime content of Video Pass, the unlimited content anime streaming service Anime Pass will terminate on April 30, 2016. New member registrations for Anime Pass will cease to be accepted from January 27.
Via the medium of Video Pass, KDDI will continue to offer new experiences and new means of enjoying the au smartphone.
