In late November 2013, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will release the isai, a new au smartphone developed with a focus on the concept of "mastery".

KDDI jointly developed the isai with LG Electronics, Inc. (hereafter referred to as "LGE"), which boasts a large share in the global smartphone market. LGE will provide the isai as an original brand for KDDI.

By making use of LGE's technology and placing a strong emphasis on the design and user experience, the isai model aims to appeal to a wide range of customers, regardless of gender or age.

The slim frame design reduces all elements other than the display, and the metal side frame showcases the sharp lines and gradual curves. The 72-mm wide, 9.1-mm thick body fits comfortably in the hand, even with the large 5.2-inch display.

The device also features the isai screen, which is a Home screen interface that users can simply flick to view news, current trends, social networking services, videos and other information with photos and images without launching any separate apps. In this way, users can easily enjoy a variety of current information directly on the Home screen.

Furthermore, the large 5.2-inch full HD display features an IPS liquid-crystal panel that utilizes LGE's display technology. The display boasts accurate color expression without distortion of detail, enabling users to enjoy sharp, clear videos on the large screen. In addition, the high-luminance display counteracts screen glare, making it easy to see even in bright environments.
