1. 5GB of Data Free Every Month

  • (1)

    Overview

    Customers aged 25 or under who subscribe to Flat-rate Data 5/8/10/13 when making a new contract (including MNP) or changing their phone model receive 5GB of data free every month until the month of their 26th birthday.
    The free data quantity is provided by au every month as "Data Present."

    • Even during the valid privilege period, the privilege will be revoked in the event of a transfer or succession in subscriber, or if the eligible discount service is changed or the conditions are not met in some way.
    • The privilege period will begin the month following subscription.
    • The data will be gifted on the 5th of every month.
  • (2)

    Conditions for Application of Privilege

    • The customer is aged 25 or under [1]
    • The customer purchases a new phone at the same time as making a new contract or MNP contract or changing phone models
    • The customer signs up to Flat-rate Data 5/8/10/13 [2] [3]

      Subscription to the Data Charge service is required.
    • Limited to one phone line per person. Duplicate applications are not allowed.

    How to Apply

    No application is required.
    Eligible users who satisfy the conditions for application of the privilege will receive a Data Present every month. [4]

      To receive the Data Present, data charge procedures must be taken by the end of each month from the Dejira app or the Data Charge site.

2. Flat-rate Data Discount

  • (1)

    Overview

    Customers aged 25 or under (and their families) who sign up for Flat-rate Data 5/8/10/13 when they make a new contract (including MNP) or change their phone model (only customers aged 25 or under) will be eligible for a discount of ¥1,000 off their monthly flat-rate data charges for up to one year.     An additional discount of ¥2,000/month [6] for up to two years is applied in the case of au Smart Value contracts.

    Conditions for Application of Privilege

    1. New contract or MNP contract

    • The customer satisfies either one of the conditions below
      (1) The customer is aged 25 or under as of January 14, 2016 [7]
      (2) The family members are subscribed to the same Family Discount plan as the customer in (1) above [8]
    • Subscription to Flat-rate Data 5/8/10/13 [9] or LTE Flat [10]
    • Subscription to Everybody Discount or Smile Heart Discount

      In the case of a registered user, priority is given to the age of the registered user. Preschool-age children are not eligible.

      The discount is applied from usage charges for May 2016 provided that the family members who switched from another carrier/made a new contract before the customer aged 25 or under with a contract between January 14, 2016 and March 30, 2016, also meet the conditions for application of the privilege as of April 1, 2016.

    2. Model change

    • The customer is aged 25 or under as of January 14, 2016
    • The phone usage period is 18 months or longer (Newly purchased phones registered to KDDI are eligible)
    • The phone was purchased at the same time as the model was changed
    • The customer subscribes to Flat-rate Data 5/8/10/13 [9] or LTE Flat [10]
      Lines to which Student Discount was applied in the past are also eligible.
    • Limited to one phone line per person. Duplicate applications are not allowed.
    • Customers switching between KDDI and Okinawa Cellular, or from an MVNO operator using KDDI/Okinawa Cellular lines are not eligible.
  • (3)

    How to Apply

    A separate application for au Student Discount is required. Applications can be made at au stores carrying au products.

    • No application is required in the case of a model change.

3. au Smart Pass, Video Pass and Uta Pass Limited Period Discounts

  • (1)

    Overview

    A campaign will be held for a discount equivalent to the monthly information charge for up to six months (until the usage charge for July 2016) for au Smart Pass, Video Pass and Uta Pass with the 2016 au Student Discount, aimed at enabling students and their families to enjoy apps, videos, music and various other entertainment content.

    In addition to unlimited use of popular apps, this service provides great value coupons, 50GB of photo and video storage, reliable security and support. This video distribution service allows unlimited viewing of a variety of genres including movies (Japanese and foreign), dramas and animations. In addition, a rental ticket enables free viewing of a new release every month. This flat-rate music distribution service allows users to choose and enjoy over 2 million songs from over 600 diverse channels, ranging from the latest Japanese pops to anime songs and karaoke favorites.

    • The discount is automatically applied to eligible customers.
  • (4)

      : January 14, 2016 to March 31, 2016
  • The discount will begin the month following subscription. The monthly information charge for the month of subscription is charged on a prorated basis. The monthly information charge will be charged automatically at the end of the free period.
  • Depending on the timing of the subscription, the discount for the following month may be included with the discount for the month after.
  • If the phone number to which the au Student Discount (Flat-rate Data charge discount) is applied has been set as the au ID, the discount will be applied to this number. Application of the discount will be determined at the beginning of each month.
  • The au Smart Pass, Video Pass and Uta Pass discounts will no longer apply if the au Student Discount (Flat-rate Data charge discount) is terminated during the discount period.
