KDDI to launch Anime Pass service, offering customers access to their favorite anime

1. Anime Pass service details

  1. (1) Unlimited viewing of anime content

    • Subscribers have unlimited access to approximately 7,000 episodes from 500 anime programs. The number of titles will be expanded gradually.
    • Access to the latest TV anime episodes will be available soon after they are broadcast, enabling customers to quickly catch up on programs that they miss.
      • Service is expected to start from July 2014.
    • Free access to some content will be offered to Anime Pass subscribers as a membership benefit. There are also future plans for a variety of other must-see benefits for anime fans, including special anime collaboration items, invitations and priority access to events, and more.

  2. (2) Convenient search functions
    A variety of criteria can be used to search for anime content.

    • Person search (director, actor, animation director, etc.)
    • Genre search
    • Release date search

    Users can utilize the search function to find their favorite anime titles. The search function can also help users find and view anime that their favorite creators or voice actors worked on in the past, and it may help them discover works that they never knew about.

    • Service is expected to start from August 2014.

  3. (3) Collaboration with Newtype magazine
    A variety of essential information for anime fans is provided through a collaboration with Newtype magazine published by Kadokawa, including popular content featured in the magazine, as well as exclusive content prepared by the editors for Anime Pass subscribers, such as event reports, interviews with voice actors, and more.

2. Price

¥400 per month (tax excluded)

  • 14 days free for first-time subscribers

3. Supported models

au smartphones and tablets running Android (TM) 4.0 or later, or iOS 7.0 or later.

  • Some models are not supported.
  • Future support is planned for personal computers.

4. How to access

After the service is launched, use any of the methods below to access Anime Pass from an au smartphone.

  1. (1) Visit the Open link in a new windowAnime Pass website

  2. (2) Perform an online search for "Anime Pass".

  3. (3) Go to the top of au Smart Pass and select "Smart Pass" followed by "Anime Pass".

  4. (4) From a shortcut on an au smartphone, download the Anime Pass app.
