KDDI CORPORATION (hereinafter referred to as "KDDI"; Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Takashi Tanaka) has announced plans to launch Anime Pass, a service that is provided in collaboration with Kadokawa Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Kadokawa"; Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masaki Matsubara), which offers unlimited anime viewing and access to a variety of informative anime-related content. The service is scheduled to launch in late June 2014.
For a monthly charge of ¥400 (tax excluded), the Anime Pass service offers unlimited access to approximately 7,000 episodes from 500 anime programs, and it enables subscribers to search for their favorite anime by criteria such as voice actor or genre. Subscribers will also be able to view the latest TV anime episodes soon after they are broadcast. In the future, KDDI will continue to strengthen its relationships with content providers to gradually expand the number of anime titles that are available.
In addition, through a collaboration with Newtype magazine published by Kadokawa, the service provides subscribers with a variety of informative content aimed at deepening their knowledge and enjoyment of anime. KDDI also plans to offer a variety of additional benefits to customers who also subscribe to au Smart Pass, such as invitations or priority access to events.
Through au Smart Pass, which has over 10 million subscribers, KDDI provides an enjoyable and secure environment in which even first-time users can master their smartphones. Now, in addition to the Video Pass, Uta Pass, and Book Pass services, which increase customer enjoyment by providing greater access to various types of content, KDDI offers Disney Pass and Anime Pass, providing customers an even greater opportunity to tailor their smartphone experience to suit their preferences and lifestyles. In the future, KDDI will continue to provide a variety of anime-related content with the aim of providing customers a new way to enjoy and experience anime using their au smartphones.
