KDDI CORPORATION (hereinafter referred to as "KDDI"; Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Takashi Tanaka) and The Walt Disney Company (Japan) Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Disney"; Head office: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; President: Paul Candland) have announced plans to offer Disney Pass, a service that enables customers to fully customize their au smartphones with Disney items. The service is scheduled to launch in late July 2014.

The Disney Pass service offers customers an opportunity to receive unlimited access to content featuring a variety of Disney and Pixar characters with the purchase of an exclusive au Disney smartphone cover [1]. The service will be available with the summer 2014 au smartphone models [1], as well as iPhone 5 and 5s, and it will be available with future models as they are released.

For a monthly charge of ¥372 (tax excluded), users receive unlimited access to content [2] such as original games, dress-up simulators, alarms, and calendars. In addition, KDDI will be the first mobile carrier in Japan to offer the WATCH Disney Channel and WATCH Disney Junior video apps, which let users view exclusive real-time Disney channel content, as well as individual program episodes [3]. Customers will be able to enjoy unlimited access to the content and the video apps from their au smartphones [4].

Through au Smart Pass, which has over 10 million subscribers, KDDI provides an enjoyable and secure environment in which even first-time users can master their smartphones. Now, in addition to the Video Pass, Uta Pass, and Book Pass services, which increase customer enjoyment by providing greater access to various types of content, KDDI offers Disney Pass and Anime Pass, providing customers an even greater opportunity to tailor their smartphone experience to suit their preferences and lifestyles.

With Disney Pass, customers can more fully personalize each individual model in the carefully selected au smartphone lineup. Moving forward, KDDI and Disney will continue working together to provide a variety of entertainment content for au smartphones, while expanding the service lineup and exclusive au benefits that enable customers to more fully enjoy their smartphones.
