'au Data MAX Plan' Launched: Japan's First Smartphone Charge Plan With No Data Capacity Limit

Beginning this summer, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will offer the "au Data MAX Plan", a smartphone charge plan with no monthly upper limit on data capacity for a monthly charge as low as ¥5,980.

Designed in anticipation of the coming 5G era, the "au Data MAX Plan" is the first smartphone charge plan in Japan [1] with no upper limit on data capacity. The plan enables customers to enjoy a wide range of services and apps including video and music without having to worry about the volume of data they are using.

The "au Data MAX Plan" is eligible for "Family Discount Plus" and "au Smart Value" discounts of up to ¥1,000 per month, depending on the number of family members subscribing. Total monthly charges are as low as ¥7,480 when two family members subscribe, and as low as ¥6,980 when 3 family members subscribe.

An additional "au Data MAX Plan Start Campaign" promotional discount of ¥1,000 per month will be applied for six months beginning the month after new subscription, bringing monthly charges down to as little as ¥5,980.

Customers who subscribe to the "au Data MAX Plan" before September 30, 2019, will benefit even more from the "Family Discount Plus Start Campaign" promotion. They will receive the maximum ¥1,000 monthly "Family Discount Plus" rate reduction from the date of sign-up until September 30, 2019, regardless of how many family members subscribe. [2]
