KDDI partners with Netflix to offer flat-rate subscription bundle

KDDI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Makoto Takahashi), has agreed to enter into a partnership with NETFLIX Inc. (Headquarters: California, U. S. A. , CEO: Reed Hastings) subsidiary NETFLIX K.K. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) to offer NETFLIX services in Japan together with au-brand mobile phone service for a flat-rate fee.

The partnership will enable KDDI to begin offering its new "au Flat Plan 25 Netflix Pack" service at the end of the summer this year, providing Netflix's superb entertainment video content through mobile phones, together with au-brand mobile communications. The first service of its kind in Japan [1], the package deal will be available for flat-fee subscription rates starting at ¥5,500 per month [2].

The partnership enables KDDI and Netflix to provide a great many Japanese customers with high-quality entertainment services. Netflix offers the world's largest video streaming service, available in over 190 countries. In addition to popular Hollywood movies and dramas, content available with the new service will include original movies produced in Japan and overseas, as well as animation and other original content.

About "au Flat Plan 25 Netflix Pack"

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Co. will begin offering the "au Flat Plan 25 Netflix Pack" service at the end of summer 2018. The package deal provides high-capacity data transmission, access to NETFLIX original video content as well as KDDI's Videopass service with access to popular TV dramas, animated features and movies, all at one low subscription fee. There are three au plans to choose from, depending on the subscriber's voice calling needs: au Flat Plan 25 Netflix Pack (with Unlimited Calling Plan S), au Flat Plan 25 Netflix Pack (with Unlimited Calling Plan), and au Flat Plan 25 Netflix Pack (Simple).

Smartphone Support [3] enables subscribers to use au smartphones with 25GB of data transmission, together with NETFLIX and Videopass for a monthly fee starting at ¥5,500 [2].

6. About using Videopass

The service includes the Videopass Unlimited Viewing Plan, with access to content in a wide range of genres including movies, drama and animation.
