―Various methods for earning points such as payment for au charges, shopping, online reservations and bank transactions are being expanded―

No.2015-071

  • KDDI CORPORATION
  • Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company

May 14,2015

From May 14, 2015, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will add various transactions in Jibun Bank as a new way of earning WALLET points (points hereinafter). Furthermore, we will gradually expand the number of point advantage stores where users can enjoy savings and earn up to three times the points [1] by using au WALLET.

This time, nine new companies, including Idemitsu service stations―which is the first gas station to join― Yuzawaya and Umenohana, will participate as point advantage stores where users can earn more points [2] than they would in conventional stores. As a result, 43 companies with approximately 28,000 stores will be included among point advantage stores (scheduled for early July 2015).
Furthermore, we have partnered Jibun Bank to start a service offering savings in which users earn monthly points automatically [3] according to various types of bank transactions such as salary or bonus crediting, deduction for au charges and more.

Users can earn WALLET points by using au WALLET Card and au WALLET credit card for shopping in online and conventional stores. We will continue to expand the services for earning points in various daily situations, such as payment for monthly au charges and bank transactions, in addition to online reservations for travel and air tickets (au Travel), restaurants (Gurunavi), beauty and nail salons (KamiMado). Earned points can be used with 1 point = 1 yen for shopping with au WALLET Card, au WALLET credit card or in au WALLET Market.

In future, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will continue to expand initiatives for earning extra points in daily life in addition to partnerships with various companies.

Towards earning more WALLET points that can be used

1. Earning points

Users can earn WALLET points (hereinafter points) through their daily shopping, when making reservations for travel, restaurants and beauty salons, and paying for au charges. This time, we will expand the number of point advantage stores where more points can be earned than conventional stores in addition to earning points every month automatically [3] according to the type of transaction such as salary crediting and deduction for au charges through the partnership with Jibun Bank.

  • (1)
    Earning points through shopping
Any au user [4] can apply for au WALLET Card, which can be used to earn points as a shopping benefit at approximately 38.1 million stores that accept MasterCard (R) worldwide [5]. Besides daily shopping, users can earn points by using au WALLET credit card [6] to pay for au charges and utilities.
Furthermore, users can earn up to three times the extra points [1] than they would in conventional stores by shopping in point advantage stores.

What are point advantage stores?
We are collaborating with various partner companies as point advantage stores so that au WALLET service users can enjoy shopping with more savings. When au WALLET Card or au WALLET credit card is used for shopping in point advantage stores, more points can be earned than in conventional stores.
When the au WALLET service started in May 2014, there were 14 companies participating as point advantage stores. We will expand the number to 43 companies and approximately 28,000 stores (scheduled for early July 2015).
