KDDI and Okinawa Cellular KDDI have announced plans to release the AQUOS K, equipped with Android (TM) 4.4 and the first ever 4G LTE compatible feature phone from a domestic carrier. The AQUOS K is scheduled for release in the latter half of February, 2015.

The AQUOS K offers the familiar 10 key operation and overall usability expected of a feature phone, but packed with numerous functions not available in feature phones to date, including a quad-core CPU, compatibility with 4G LTE high-speed data communications, and tablet and PC tethering capability for high-speed internet connectivity.
In addition to photo and video sharing, a tethering ON/OFF feature and other tablet-linked functions, the AQUOS K features a 13.1 megapixel camera capable of taking high-definition photos and video. This makes it possible for users to enjoy high-speed data communications through tethering, high-definition photography, as well as LINE and other popular applications.

The AQUOS K is also compatible with a customized version of au Smart Pass, which offers a variety of popular games, useful applications and special member benefits carefully selected for the AQUOS K, in addition to guarantee services such as assistance with repair costs which provide users with additional peace of mind, and which will be made available with the release of the AQUOS K.

From the au +1 collection of official au accessories, decorative sticker and cover sets featuring a variety of gradated colors are available for the AQUOS K, making it possible for users to create a completely different look for their phones.

The Unlimited Voice & Data Freedom or LTE Plan can be used with the AQUOS K. With the release of the new phone, customers purchasing the AQUOS K will also be offered the AQUOS K Start Discount, which provides a discount of ¥1,000 (excluding tax) off of monthly charges for up to four years. Customers 55 and older can also choose the Senior Plan.

The AQUOS K will be on display beginning January 20, 2015, at au SHINJUKU (Shinjuku, Tokyo), au NAGOYA (Sakae, Nagoya), au OSAKA (Umeda, Osaka) and au FUKUOKA (Tenjin, Fukuoka).
