On May 15, 2014, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will begin releasing eight new products in the Summer 2014 lineup, including six au smartphone models and two au tablets.

The six smartphone models featured in the Summer 2014 lineup are the isai FL, which is the latest version of au's original isai smartphone, along with the customary Xperia (TM) ZL2, GALAXY S5, and AQUOS SERIE models, the latest URBANO model, and a TORQUE model that features an unprecedented level of durability.
The Xperia (TM) Z2 Tablet, which is the world's thinnest and lightest 10-inch tablet [1], as well as the ASUS MeMO Pad (TM) 8, which features a beautiful color display and is the first model in Japan equipped with the latest Intel (R) Atom (TM) Z3580 quad-core processor, are also included in the lineup, resulting in a diverse selection of smartphones and tablets that suit a variety of customer lifestyles.

The Summer 2014 models are compatible with carrier aggregation, which is supported by next-generation high-speed LTE-Advanced technology, as well as WiMAX 2+, which enables high-speed data communications at a maximum downlink speed of 110 Mbps [2]. In addition, each device is equipped with a high-capacity battery that enables over 3 days of use [3], and when used with a standard AC Adapter 05 that supports Qualcomm (R) Quick Charge (TM) 2.0 rapid charging technology, which is Qualcomm's fastest, a sufficient 1-day charge [3] [4] can be provided in approximately 30 minutes. These features provide a superbly comfortable communication environment that enables users to enjoy video downloading and streaming for long periods of time without worrying about the battery level.

Furthermore, the au +1 collection of official au accessories has been expanded with new items, including the Gear 2 smartwatch, which is the latest GALAXY-compatible wearable device equipped with various functions that let the user make voice calls, check mail, and play music. The expanded lineup also features new covers and cases that complement the latest smartphones, including a stylish case with a card pocket designed to securely hold the new au WALLET electronic money card.

The Xperia (TM) ZL2, GALAXY S5, AQUOS SERIE, URBANO, and Xperia (TM) Z2 Tablet models announced today will go on display from May 9, 2014 at the KDDI Designing Studio (Harajuku, Tokyo), au NAGOYA (Sakae, Nagoya), au OSAKA (Umeda, Osaka), and au FUKUOKA (Tenjin, Fukuoka).
