On October 2, 2013, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular expanded the au Smart Support  service, a membership-based support service for au customers, with the aim of strengthening customer relations and improving the enjoyment and convenience of the customer's smartphone experience.
Although the au Smart Support service has been well-received by many customers  since its launch, three new services are being added in response to customer requests.
In addition to offering smartphone learning events for au Smart Support members, such as bus tours in which participants can experience a variety of real-world situations that make use of smartphones, KDDI will begin offering au Smart Support Gift Certificates, which anyone can give to au users as a present, enabling more customers to take advantage of au Smart Support . With these gift certificates, anyone can give the au Smart Support service to parents or friends, providing them an enjoyable opportunity to master their smartphone. Furthermore, in response to many customer requests for the opportunity to try out a tablet before purchasing one, KDDI has added a tablet to the selection of devices that are available for use with the Smartphone Trial Rental service.
In the future, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will continue to develop new au Smart Support services that help to improve the enjoyment and convenience of the customer's smartphone experience.
