KDDI and Okinawa Cellular have announced plans to release the isai FL smartphone, an original au model equipped with Japan's first ultra-high resolution WQHD display, at the end of July 2014.

The isai FL smartphone is equipped with a world-class AH-IPS liquid crystal WQHD display developed by LG Display Co., Ltd. With 1.8 times the resolution of full HD and a pixel density of 538 ppi, the display delivers a crisp, ultra-high definition picture with a sense of depth, which users can enjoy even in the bright outdoors. This original au smartphone is loaded with newly developed technology and features, including an exclusive KDDI design that fits comfortably in the hand despite the large 5.5-inch display, as well as an innovative new user interface.

The new isai Motion user interface provides a fun new experience. Simply by shaking the device, users can access cost-saving coupons for nearby stores, information about popular restaurants in the area, and other special information that will make the user want to go out. Users can also change the wallpaper and icon settings for the Home screen, create collages from pictures in the gallery, launch apps, and perform other actions with a simple shake.

In addition, the popular Knock-on function found on previous isai models, which lets users wake the device simply by tapping the display, has been updated with a Knock Code security feature that lets users directly access the Home screen after the device enters sleep mode. Furthermore, a variety of other advanced functions such as isai Magazine, which automatically collects information tailored to the user's interests based on registered keywords, are incorporated to provide a new type of smartphone experience.
