From May 21, 2014, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will launch au WALLET as part of the "au WALLET Concept", the third installment of the 3M Strategy. au WALLET is a new E-money service that can be used in online and conventional stores. You can also earn points with au WALLET.

By adding a payment function that can be used in conventional stores to au ID, which provides the authentication key for using au's various network services, au WALLET fuses the internet with reality. This new service will change people's daily lives by making them more convenient. Along with the launch of the au WALLET service, we will issue au WALLET Cards that can be used for payment in conventional stores.

au WALLET Card is a new prepaid E-money card that can be charged and used to shop in approximately 38.1 million stores that accept MasterCard (R) worldwide [1] such as convenience stores, drug stores, restaurants, apparel stores, amusement facilities, and online stores.

As a benefit for using the service, users can earn WALLET points (hereafter, points) according to the amount paid for monthly communication charges such as E-money use and au mobile phones. Furthermore, users can earn even more points by using au WALLET to pay at 7-Eleven, Matsumoto Kiyoshi, and other point advantage stores (11 companies, approx. 20,000 stores) [2].

Earned points can be used to charge au WALLET Cards for future shopping, for monthly communication charges [3], for discounts when changing mobile phone models or adding options, and more.

Along with the start of this service, we will also release a dedicated app and website where users can charge their au WALLET Cards, check their remaining balance, check their points, view usage history, and check for point advantage stores so they can conveniently use au WALLET.
