On January 23, 2014, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will expand the service area [1] of high-speed LTE data communications [2] available through the GLOBAL PASSPORT international roaming service, becoming the first carrier in Japan to offer the service in France.

By utilizing this service, visitors to the popular travel destination of France can more comfortably enjoy data-heavy content, such as watching online videos, using social networking services, and sending high-quality photos via E-mail.

The international LTE roaming service can be used in the same way as the previous roaming services in the service areas, and no application is required.
In addition, LTE communication charges are covered by the Overseas Double-Teigaku flat-rate service, eliminating the need for customers to worry about the cost. At present, the Overseas Double-Teigaku flat-rate service is applied in 157 countries and regions.

    The high-speed LTE data communication service available through GLOBAL PASSPORT was launched in South Korea, Hong Kong, and Singapore on September 19, 2013, and it was expanded to the United States on November 15, 2013.
